SMILE :)
Well I just read the most interesting thing in the LA Times. They said that people who smile a lot are "usually happier, have more stable personalities, more stable marriages, better cognitive skills and better interpersonal skills, according to research. Science has just uncovered another benefit of a happy face. People who have big smiles live longer."This isn't a bunch of psycho-hooey, the authors said. Smiles reflect positive emotion. Positive emotion has been linked to both physical and mental well-being. They added a caveat to their study: "The data source provided no information as to whether expressions were spontaneous or in response to a photographer's request to smile." Still, big smiles are more likely to reflect true happiness than partial smiles. SO this is huge. I am very happy to say that Clare and Paul smile A LOT so I feel as though that is a very optimistic study, they're going to live FOREVER !!! But how brilliant to find out that being happy affects your health. I think it is true in dogs too, although perhaps it should be measured in tail wags instead, although I do know a lot of dogs who smile. Golden Retrievers in particular are very smiley dogs. Paul once told me about a happiness study that tells people to put little yellow stickers or stars everywhere and that every time they notice one they have to stop and remember a
happy time or memory or thought and that this trains the mind to be happy. I sit and listen to Paul telling jokes all day and Clare putting a funny spn on life as she sees it so I think I am permanently smiling. “Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing.”We did have a very smiley time this weekend. Vinnie Jones had a BBQ and that's always fun. They have a beautiful home and we went up and hung out with gorgeous Matthew Rhys, Max Beesley and wonderful sexy Sadie. We enjoyed the early evening with friends and smiled a lot. And then on Sunday we had lunch with a bunch of friends at Soho House looking out over the beautiful views of LA. Honestly it was the most heavenly day and we laughed so much, and you know that laughing is the only thing better than a good smile. A smile starts on the lips, A grin spreads to the eyes, A chuckle comes from the belly; But a good laugh bursts forth from the soul, Overflows, and bubbles all around. So our lesson for the day is keep smiling, laugh, and enjoy your life as much as you possibly can. I am giving it my best shot.....
